Great Neck Village Reinforces Abandon Property Code

Great Neck, New York, April 9, 2018 – In an ongoing village beautification effort, Mayor Bral and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Great Neck are reinforcing village code with respect to bicycles.
“Not only is it an eyesore, but it’s an impediment to pedestrians walking and crossing intersections along Middle Neck Road,” expressed Mayor Bral.

Bicycles are not permitted to be left and chained for extended periods of time. Several days, weeks, and months at a time, with no retrieval, is what constitutes an extended period. Any bicycle left will be deemed abandoned property and will be removed in accordance with Village Code § A583-13.

Items removed will be available for retrieval at the Department of Public Works located at 765 Middle Neck Road, subject to a redemption fee.
