Hurricane Ida - FEMA Assistance for Residents

Nassau County has been declared a disaster area due to the remnants of Hurricane Ida. Residents who were adversely affected are eligible to apply for federal assistance from FEMA. Residents can apply for assistance here or by calling 1-800-621-3362 (TTY 1-800-462-7585)

Individual Assistance

Homeowners and renters can now apply to the Individual Assistance program by going to or by calling (800) 621-3362.  Individual Assistance is a program that assists households that have been impacted by Ida.  Assistance may include grants to help pay for temporary housing, emergency home repairs for the primary residence, uninsured and underinsured personal property losses and medical and dental expenses caused by the disaster, along with other serious disaster-related expenses.

Disaster Loans for Businesses

Business owners can now apply for Disaster Loans by going to or by calling (800) 659-2955.  Disaster Loans help to repair or replace disaster-damaged property, as well as help businesses meet their ordinary and necessary financial obligations that cannot be met as a direct result of the disaster.

Disaster Recovery Center

Households and businesses can apply for assistance, check on their application status and ask questions here.  (They can also apply, check status and ask questions via the phone numbers above – this is just a brick-and-mortar location where people can walk in and gain the assistance of a representative in-person.)
